Hey guys! After much time and thought I've decided to change my name. I was once known as Venus and I have now changed my name to Phoenix Hoops Rising. The reasons are many and if anyone has questions or concerns, please let me know. Thank you!
Blessings to all!

Re: Changing times...
Tue, September 29, 2009 - 8:04 PMOne word of warning, there are at least 2 different groups that use the name Phoenix Rising.. both are fire-arts, poi, spinning etc etc.
1 is in Cali and the other Peoria. They are the first thing I thought of when I heard the name.
The addition of hoop at the end may help but...
You may end up getting confused with them or vice-versa by people. -

Tue, September 29, 2009 - 11:08 PMHmm... perhaps I'll just take the rising out then. Thanks for the word of caution! -

Seriously, you should look for the name registry in Hooping.org

Tue, September 29, 2009 - 11:56 PMAlright... how about just Phoenix Rhythms?

Re: Changing times...
Wed, September 30, 2009 - 8:40 AMhow about other variations on the phoenix theme:
Bird of Paradise Hoops
Out of the Ashes Hoops
Reborn Hoops
Rise Anew Hoops
Re-Emergence Hoop Dance
Risen Flames,
etc etc
even if you find these names lame (or like thinly disguised Born-Again Christian hooping names :) ), you get my idea.
the phoenix speaks to regeneration, power, change, and beauty. you can express the essence of the phoenix in a less conventional way. -

Re: Changing times...
Wed, September 30, 2009 - 11:25 PMHmm... I wasn't thinking about a name for a business, just a Hoop name for me. Got any thoughts on that? -

Thu, October 1, 2009 - 5:07 AMWhat didn't you like about Venus? I think that's very pretty and it's cool that it's a heavenly body, a beautiful round planet that we can even see from from here on earth sometimes, spinning in our spiral universe, a name associated with feminism and beauty that also represents circles within circles. -

Re: Changing times...
Thu, October 1, 2009 - 9:41 PMHmm... it's not that I didn't like Venus, I just didn't feel like it was very hooper-ish. I wanted to incorperate hooping and the phoenix has always been my favorite symbol and personal totem.

Re: Changing times...
Fri, October 16, 2009 - 3:38 AMFYI - there are already hoopers with the names Hoopasizzle and Sadie Spins. I always recommend checking the hooping.org list first!
www.hooping.org/archives/001258.html
After that, it's a good idea to google the name using any possible mutations (separate words, smushed together as one word, spelling variations).
