I will put myself out there more, contribute videos to the tribe and refine my style greatly. The few videos I have taken are giving me so much insight into my own hooping, how I need to focus a bit more and relax a bit. I will bring my hoop to the gym with me to police myself in the mirror and I will make a collapsible hoop so I will stop saying everywhere I go..."damn I wish I had a hoop with me", I will enjoy the privilege and joy of spinning anywhere and bringing a smile to anyone around..watching or spinning with me :-)

.............plus I will cut my hair, loose weight drink less eat better be more confident., and all that other stuff that I have resolved to do in the coming year...

Oh, and hopefully I will have the opportunity to get inside a fire hoop...I refuse to do it alone, so anyone feel like visiting VT to give me a lesson or 2? ;-)

My two hooping resolutions are connected.
1. To really connect more with the hooping community as a whole as part of a general effort to bring a sense of community to my creative life.
2. To get more creative and experimental with my hooping. I think I'm going to start bringing more of my yoga practice to bear in the hoop, working on more level transitions, and playing with what happens when a move fails and I just keep moving through the hoop.... maybe something new and magical will pop up.

In my new year's day yoga class, my teacher was talking about the iconic representation of Shiva Nataraja and how the circle of flames represents the cycle of life and the way in which we integrate parts of ourselves into that cycle. And all I could think of was "Ooooo... fire hooping!" :-D

My Hooping Resolutions....

I resolve to be less concerned with what people are saying and thinking around me when I hoop (and in everyday life as well I guess). My confidence will resonate from within the circle and pour out all over around me, affecting others and inspiring them!

I resolve to begin hooping more in public areas (beginning in the spring, too cold right now!!!) and invite others in my community to join me. The Vancouver Hoopers have been a great inspiration in this area!!! If you hoop, they will come...

And I resolve to learn fire hooping. I've been checking out Holistic Hoops and Iron Gypsy hoops online for about the past 2 weeks and I think I'm ready to at least try it... without the wicks lit :P

Best of luck to everyone with their goals and aspirations for 2007. It will be my first FULL year of hooping with confidence and I'm very excited. It's gonna be great!

As for me...
I intend to try to interact more with the hooping community. I usually don't have anyone to practice with and I would like to get together more with some of the hoopers in my area for jam sessions.
I would also like to teach a hula hoop workshop or class sometime in the next year. I want hooping to be a bigger part of my fitness program. I think putting together a class would help me to motivate and dedicate more time to hooping.
There are many more things that I can think of...
