How and why do you do this? I just got one and I noticed others put tape on it....just wondering how you do this and if there are any pointers out there for doing this properly.

Wed, May 14, 2008 - 12:56 PMAs for the 'why', I'd guess for grip... as for the how, I've never had an LED hoop (unfortunately) so I wouldn't know for sure. Maybe try just one straight line around the inside, so there's maximum grip with minimum light blockage?

Also suggest taping while your LED is turned on, that way you know whether or not you are covering your lights or not.
Just have a go at it - definitely suggest using as little sparkling specialty tape as possible because it will unravel if you don't reinforce it somehow. Otherwise, just go for it! :)

Fri, May 16, 2008 - 3:17 AMHow? With the lights on, and with whatever you like... You can do a normal spiralled tape job (leaving gaps for the lights), some people just add a strip of gaffer tape to the inside for grip, or you could add bands of tape between the LED's...it goes on
Why? For grip, and if you use glitter tape it can help reflect the light patterns. With PSI's especially it can help to change and enhance the trails left by the lights. And also, it's fun making your LED even prettier! -

Sat, May 17, 2008 - 4:13 AMI decorated my new psi twins with lots of tape, but thin metallic tape with clear over the top. Lots of thin lines make more trails with the dragonfly's definitely for sure. A bit of pro gaff to make it a bit more grippy. Definitely keep the lights on when you do it but don't be shy to lightly cover lights with thin metallic tape!!
