So I loooooove one shoulder duckouts, and I can do continuous rotations now. I can also go from a horizontal plane to a vertical plane while doing continuous rotations. I'm laying here waaaay too sleepy and groggy, and an idea managed to float into my head. Is it possible to do barrel rolls while doing a one shoulder duckout? Maybe this is completely ridiculous and picturing the physics in my head just ain't happenin. But I'm absolutely going to try it now...has anyone tried to do this before. Could it actually work, or is this idea absurd?

Mon, September 28, 2009 - 4:19 PMok people sorry for being a dumbass and spelling 'move' as 'moce' in the subject title. see? way too sleepy to type right now. :)

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Tue, September 29, 2009 - 12:56 AMIt isn't absurd, and totally possible with enough time and effort spent on the skill :)
Just wait until you figure out anti--spin shoulder hooping barrel rolls :)

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Fri, October 2, 2009 - 3:25 PMHee :) the hoop is rotating in one direction on your shoulder, vertically... and then you rotate your body through a barrel roll position (keeping the hoop rotating on your shoulder) in the opposite spin direction.

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Fri, October 2, 2009 - 11:03 PMSounds difficult....now I'll be trying this for a while....got a video so I can make sure what I see in my head is correct? -

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Mon, October 5, 2009 - 9:45 AMNo video at this point... and I wasn't suggesting that *I* can do the anti-spin turn - YET! I got the vertcal-one-shoulder-duckout-barrel-roll this past weekend, though... and once I figure out where to put my head for the anti-spin turn, that will be next!
Thanks for the challenge :) This totally took me back to Baxter's workshops - the first step is BELIEF - this CAN be done!

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Tue, October 6, 2009 - 8:30 PMI think that's my problem, I believe I can do it but my head or something is getting in the way of the hoop when trying to do the one-shoulder vertical barrel roll...I keep dropping it or hitting myself. Any tips, Xta? -

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Wed, October 7, 2009 - 11:09 AMThis tip is for doing a barrel roll in the same direction as the spin of your hoop:
When you roll, the hoop should be stalled on your shoulder so the belly of the hoop is as far away from your head as possible. Roll fast, so the belly has lots of pull to keep it floating away from the resistance of your shoulder hold, then as soon as your head is back to your starting position, get it out of the way before the hoop resumes its travel around your shoulder.
Does that make sense?

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 9:26 PMYep! I was actually able to do it very awkwardly on Tuesday night, the problem is making it less awkward. I have a video up on hoop city....I'm going to try to add music to it cause it's driving me bananas to hear myself on tape.

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Thu, October 8, 2009 - 9:52 PMok, got the video up with music....had to get a program to virtually burn my song choice so it could be imported...damn DRM-protected music.....anyways...here's my attempts:

Re: Mmm...hoop moce challenge! (Is this move even possible?)
Sat, October 10, 2009 - 1:41 PMyeah the problem I'm have with this move is that the hoop keeps flying off my shoulder. I'm guessing I need to really hook the hoop more and try to lock it in close to my neck to prevent this. I'll see what I can work out.
I love how enthusiastic everyone is about this! Thanks for rising to the challenge!

Thu, October 15, 2009 - 12:36 AMOh, interesting... you're doing it on your 'second' shoulder, I do it on my 'first'...gotta try it your way this weekend!
