I was wondering if anyone cleans their hoops and what you use? I hoop at a dance space with community hoops and a few of the hoops there always leave my hands feeling strangely icky. Afterwords I wash my hands and I suspect the hoops are rather grimy although its not overly visually obvious.
I also worry a bit about the flu virus traveling from hand to hoop to hand. Any thoughts?

Re: Cleaning Your Hoops
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 6:30 AMAre you using Grip hoops? I am addicted to Germ X after each hoop session. For my hoops that aren't grip tape I clean them with Lysol wipes and magic erasers if they have scuffs. For my grip hoops ( spike/gaffer tape or hockey tape), I have yet to find a cleaning solution due to the fact that if the tape gets wet, the icky sticky stuff rubs off on your hands and makes it unravel. That's why I'm addicted to germ x.

Re: Cleaning Your Hoops
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 10:14 PMi took my hoop hiking once and got poison oak, so I had to clean it. It's wrapped in gaffers and metallic tape. I took a rag and made it damp and soapy, wiped down the hoop a few times, then rinsed the rag so it was damp but not soapy, wiped off the soap residue, and then wiped it with a dry rag. Then just let it dry out. It's not wet enough to make it sticky, but I have had hoops get sticky from getting wet and they were just fine after I let them dry.
