Was ist Hula-Hoop?

Hey there,

I feel a bit lonely here in Germany. I'd absolutely love to have someone to hoop with, but I don't know a single person in my area, and only one other person in other parts of Germany.

My trouble is three things mainly:

1.) Where would I find German hoopers if not here? Google has not given me any German hooping communities or boards or anything, so I'm pretty sure there's no real communtiy here. I'd be willing to try making an online community myself, but who with?

2.) Hoops are hard to come by. Getting them shipped from elsewhere is expensive as hell, and while I have actually found 1" tube to use for making hoops, there's nowhere I know that I could get connectors from, and I've looked around a lot. I've got my current hoop only because I brought it with me from my student exchange in Australia, and the glitter tape is cracking already. How can I promote hooping here if I can't help people to get decent hoops?

3.) How do I get people into it? I might just start out telling online friends and friends I know closely, but how else can I promote hooping?

I'm seriously thinking of starting my own blog and youtube account up again and maybe making a video or two, just so people could see that hooping exists here in Germany too. I'm pretty out of ideas otherwise, though. It's not like I'm really good either - I can do waist, neck and chest with a bit of shoulder, shrug the hoop up, jump in, step through, do it on my elbow and on my foot lying on my back, but I'm nowhere near professional. I'm worried I'm not good enough to inspire people to pick up the hoop, even though I've been told otherwise wi non-hoopers - I feel like they can't judge, although it's being silly of course.

Are there any German hoopers here at all? Any ideas what I could do? Any help would be appreciated!

This fall, as I approached my one-year "hoopiversary," I started thinking a lot about my own personal hooping style. I called upon the members of this tribe to give me advice about how to develop my own flow, and develop a hooping personality if you will. The advice in my previous thread was extremely helpful (http://hooping.tribe.net/thread/1e885e91-361c-4785-a5c5-696ea82ebc6a) and has really resonated with me since I last posted. Immediately after I received such wonderful advice, I really felt like my own personality began to shine through when I hooped. Which got me thinking...

Music is such an important part of my life, and is undoubtedly the main reason that I have stuck with hooping. It is such a wonderful feeling to let loose while listening to my favorite music. I think the most helpful piece of advice I received on both my previous thread and from my teacher here in Boston was to listen to as many of your favorite songs as possible to find inspiration.

I don't know if this has been done before but I thought it would be really cool to hear what songs have inspired all of you on your personal hooping journey. I need some time to think about my "top 10" songs, but I will definitely be posting them soon. I can't wait to read everyone's "top 10" lists!

I didn't even think to check the psi until later when I realized the guy who got my tubing probably wasn't paying attention to that either. The sticker label says 180 degrees @ 100 psi. The actual writing on the tube says 100 psi @ 180F / 160 psi @ 73F. The product description in my order only says 160 psi and Ive never read about tubing having two psi ratings in anything that I have read about making a hoop. Does anyone have experience with this and can tell me whether this is the correct weight or do I have to go back to the store? Thank you all so much, in advanced. This forum has been extremely informative and interesting to read in my hoop msking adventure!

I know I must lay the silver tape first, so the other other 2 tape colors will cover and protect the edges of the silver tape. I am concerned, however, that the edge where the sections of the hoop meet will have a small edge of unprotected silver. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? Is there anything I should do to protect those edges? Maybe I could find a clear tape to cover the edges where the sections meet(?) Thanks so much. You guys have helped me in the past.

Hello friends!

I am in the process of trying to find a new hoop home for my 36" LED hoop from Moodhoops. This hoop made my hooping dreams come true, but since purchasing it about 4 months ago my hooping style has changed dramatically and I am now hoping to invest in 30" twins (actually in with the same LED light pattern because I am so in love with Moodhoop's BLAZE design). Below is a description of the hoop along with a link to Moodhoop's site that provides photos and video of the hoop in action. Thank you for the consideration and best of luck and light in following the hoop path.

the BLAZE moodhoop (check it out at http://moodhoops.com/shop/blaze/)

- 36" polypro with 3/4" outer diameter tubing

- 20 LEDS, alternating red-blue-green blending LEDs with rare pink-yellow-blue strobing LEDs

- light sanding on the inside for grip

- collapsible for travel

- 3 very small scratches on the outside of the hoop (unnoticeable to anyone watching you hooping or looking at the hoop close up, but can be just barely felt if you run your hand along the outside of the hoop), and otherwise no damage to the tubing, LEDs, or other parts of the hoop

- 16 oz in weight, and has two well-placed counter weights.

- comes with 2 rechargeable batteries and 1 charger that plugs into US outlets

I want whoever ends up owning this hoop to be 100% satisfied and enamored with it, so I highly encourage anyone who might be interested in this hoop to look up the BLAZE hoop at moodhoops.com and perhaps check out the details of how they make their hoops.

Contact me and we can discuss pricing and shipping! :)

I will be out of town to visit my beautiful home state of NC until Jan. 7th so if you think you might like to purchase this hoop and would want it before that date please shoot me an email saying hello before Dec. 16th.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, to request to see photos, etc.!

In light,

I am selling my PSI Hoop - I loves it so much, but I want to down size my hoop a bit, so I am looking for a new home for my hoop.

The hoop is a 37" outer diameter, 7/8" HDPE, with 9 dragonfly lights (fast strobe rainbow) and 7 elfin ring lights (slow fade rainbow). It's a great size and weight for a beginner/intermediate hooper. Just light & small enough for a little challenge - but you're up for it! PERFECT first LED hoop if you ask me. The hoop is currently naked, and sanded on the inside edge, but if you would like it taped I will decorate it for you!! Comes with charger.

I am willing to deliver to locations near Milwaukee, WI. And can ship elsewhere.

Cost is $185 + shipping (buyer pays shipping and I will insure the package for the full cost of a the hoop) Reply here or email rhburlingame@gmail.com if interested!

They fold down to the figure eight really easily, but they don't stay together as the double circle without holding them together. Also, they keep pulling away at the connections. I thought about cutting the couplings down shorter to see if that would help, or trying lighter tubing (I'm currently use 3/4" 160 psi). Does anyone have any advice on making these better?

How you all doing.

So I've been thinking latley about my dance style and my hoop style and how they reflect on eachother.

I know on occasion I'm just hooping and practicing moves for the heck of it.

But usually when I'm "showing off," or "dancing for my public," I like to show a certain type of style that reflects more of who I am and how I dance. I've met this same issue in other dance styles such as middle eastern folk dance, or belly dance, flamenco and many other dance styles.

What I'm getting at is, how do you other male dancers toss around the idea of more "masculine" hooping? What moves do you do and what moves do you stay away from? Do you have any moves that in your opinion, look better when men do them vs women, or vice versa?

I don't deny or repremand men who hoop with more of a "ladies touch," but I do enjoy the thought that there can be a difference and that on occasion, it can be used to an entertainment benefit.

I'd love to hear more thoughts on this. Lets discuss.

A very professional hula hoop-friend told me to make hoops with 1/2 inch PVC tubing 120 psi or a little higher...she said they were better for the tricks I'm trying to learn than the big hoop I have.

I've been running all over town today: Home Depot, Lowes, and three different local hardware stores: NONE of them stocked it. I looked online and am also not finding it, except on amazon with bad customer reviews because the coils arrived with kinks in it.

Does anyone have any idea where I can buy 1/2 inch tubing online ??? I didn't think it would be this hard and I'm impatient to get started!

Thank you!!

With very few hoopers in my area, I rely on all of those fantastic videos posted by all you wonderful fellow hoopers, and I can't help but notice hoop size differences. For example, Spiral seems to use a very small diameter hoop (no clue what type of tubing and psi she uses) but she makes that hoop look so quick and light and she hoops effortlessly. I know obviously this is also due to her amazing skills :) but I'm wondering if I should graduate, in a way, to a smaller/lighter hoop. I struggle with the smaller sizes every time I try, so I always end up going back to my default 42", which is comfortable for me but feels so heavy and slow..

So I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this. What diameter/size/psi do you all prefer?

I am very excited to announce that I will be teaching hoopdance at Hooping University! Hooping University is an online treasury of hoop instruction with curricula by some of the best hoop dancers and instructors in the world. I feel so honored to have been asked to participate in this project.

These are not 10 minute youtube vids but half hour intensives on every aspect of hooping you can imagine. I reviewed the site and I feel really good about encouraging people to enroll. Here's why:

- The content is incredible. Incredible!!! I still haven't gotten through it all but I'm blown away. I have learned a lot already and I am an experienced hoopdancer.

- There is a lot of content -- over 100 videos by some of the best teachers in the world.

- The Professors! - Anah Reichenbach (Hoopalicious), Diana Lopez, Julia (Jewels) Hartsell, Spiral, Sharna Rose, Paul DizzyHips Blair, Sharna Rose, Bunny HoopStar and Rainbow Michael.

- The site allows us to upload 30 minutes of content at a time and Instructors upload at least 30 minutes of new teaching each month.

- Thirty minutes will allow me to demonstrate moves, explain principles and concepts, troubleshoot problem areas, create drills we can do together (or you can practice along with later), explore technique, integrate dance and add flair.

- Hooping University is very reasonably priced. Three months for $50! You can't afford NOT to buy that! (But good luck getting through all the content in just three months!)

This is an excellent course of study for people who don't have access to teachers in their area, or who want to augment their learning with a wide variety of teachers, or who want to study with any one of the amazing teachers participating.

I will continue to make my youtube tutorials, in fact, I have set a goal to do one a month throughout 2011, but I am excited to have an opportunity to teach in a more in-depth and organized way, like were learning together from step one! I am pumped that I get to share things like my stretching routine and warm-ups and cool downs. I am also very excited to be able to create curricula that includes the study of dance concepts. I am into that but it takes longer to explain than the 10 minutes youtube gives me. I still plan to make a teaching dvd but who knows when that will happen? This can happen right now!

This is an incredible opportunity to go much deeper, to put it all together, to skill-build and then integrate aspects of dance. I am very excited about this. I hope you'll join me.

You can check out free sample classes here: http://www.hoopinguniversity.com/members/starsofhoopdance
Register by simply clicking this link: http://www.hoopinguniversity.com/forms/register.cgi?GRP+00005137++CarolynMabry or make a note in the comment box that I sent you. Please share this with your friends also.

I am honored and humbled to teach at Hooping University. I promise to try to bring something unique and excellent and fun. I am working on my first class right now and I hope to have it up this weekend. I can't wait to share it with you!

I have been hooping for a year now, and have pretty much got my tricks and flow rolling along nicely. I struggle now to learn new techniques as I am so limited for space but I am sure hooping in confined spaces is good for control. Plus it'll be summer before I know it and I can spend time outside once again. Oh, more reasons to hate the winter huh?

I am now facing another issue... audience. When my friends are in the room I find it so hard, flow doesn't come with people watching!!
I've never been one for craving the limelight... but I do desperately want to demonstrate my new love to those I love... it just won't happen!

Anyone got any good ideas for breaking through this?

My question is for those of you who have used different types of LED hoops what ones do you think are best?
I know of psi hoops and all I ever hear is their awesomeness but they are uber expensive.

Hello again.
I was wondering if any of you could help me identify my current hoops, and therefore help me choose which to progress to.

I started with a thick, bright blue plastic hoop, I think it was 25mm 41 in. I got this from a juggling shop, it was like, the standard type. Taped with gaffer etc.
This was too big for me, although, according to those guides you see about which hoop to buy it was just right.

I then got another bright blue plastic hoop, but the thinner width, 20mm I think, the dance weight type. I got it a smaller circumference, 39in. This was much better.

I then started buying naked hoops online, which were again, blue. I started getting smaller and smaller hoops. They seemed pretty fragile and the bounce was almost 'brittle', once I started getting better with the hoops. So I used another naked hoops online shop and got a few that were black plastic.

These suit me much more than the blue material, but I don't know what either is called.

I can't find a thinner width hoop in the UK although I have seen half inch (125 psi) hoops in the US. what are these? I assume they are lighter and quicker. I have no idea about this psi business, can anyone explain?

I would really like a 35in hoop made from half inch tubing that is about as heavy as a 36in hoop made from 3/4 inch tubing.... is that possible? I don't like putting lots of gaffer or duct on my hoops any more, I like them plain or metallic.

Thanks in advance, glorious hoopers
xx

It just looks like a pretty great all-in-one solution: coils down, lights up two ways, flex spines, available "off-the-rack" in my preferred size, etc. Free shipping within the US. Very tempting....

I am looking into purchasing a new one, and I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation?

Hiya. After much hemming and hawing and spinning of other peoples' LED hoops I decided to buy a Hooping Harmony Aurora as my first. [I say my first because now I see how these babies can be addictive ;) Plus I may want to have a different "flavor" of hoop if I ever get good enough at double hooping to warrant the purchase of another LED hoop in the near future.] Their hoops are relatively new to the market and I really liked them, so I wanted to post a review for the curious. In the end I chose their hoop because it's very light, bright, and quiet. I posted a full review on the LED Hooping tribe and the link is here:

http://tribes.tribe.net/ledhooping/thread/36e3df69-c31d-4c98-a235-19c9eba733b3

I am pointing this review out in the Hula Hooping tribe because there seems to be more traffic than on the LED tribe and I still have many questions about all the other LED hoops available out there! I bet others do, too. As I said on the LED tribe I found many reviews of the beautiful PSI Hoops, some for the budget-savvy Superhoops, and none for any others. I just think it might be nice for those in the market for an LED hoop to be able to look up review of everything from Lightupandjuggle's hoops to maybe even Peacelights even though they're discontinued. What do you like about your hoop? What don't you like? Why did you choose your particular hoop? For instance, someone who likes a heavier hoop might choose a PSI Hoop over a Hooping Harmony Hoop. Someone who loves their Superhoop to bits may wish it left different trails when you spun it or may share tips for replacing the batteries easily. Maybe another hooper couldn't live without their hoop coming apart in three segments but wishes it were brighter. So would anyone like to start a thread on their LED hoop or just jump in on this one? Then we can link it up with the specialty hoops thread for easier locatability [is that a word?]

I purchased some Quick Wicks from Hoop Drum about a month ago. These things have freed up my hoopdance, my travel with my hoop, my LOVE for fire hooping. They have completely changed my relationship with it and I think they are going to revolutionize fire hooping forever. I am very excited about this and I want to share this information with everyone. Here is my story.

I have been fire hooping since 2004. I own seven fire hoops from seven different vendors. Some of these guys weight five pounds! They have wicks that are enormous and stick way out from the hoop. It's like they were crafted to make the biggest fire possible and be hurled around my people the size of (and with the muscles of) Hercules. I, though, could barely use them. What a waste of money!!! So I started making my own. In the end, the fire hoops I made myself were lighter than any of these others (and had many other advantages too). Still, I didn't enjoy fire hoop crafting and for years, I pleaded with fire hoop manufacturers (mostly guys who were not hoopers but who made other fire tools and wanted to offer a fire hoop too) to make one that was lighter and more hoop-able. I even offered my technical expertise for free to help them and I was met with comments like, "Hey, this hoop will last forever! It's so sturdy you could back over it with your car. And look at the size of the fire!" and I was like, "Seriously? Thank you but I take better care of my tools than that. I need a fire hoop that I can hoop with, not a fire hoop I can back a car over. I don't need fire the size of a wildfire in California! The blaze on these wicks is so big, it is physically intimidating." They didn't care ... because they weren't crafting it for me ... they were crafting it for them. It was irritating to me that they had no interest in creating a tool for the artist but, instead, expected the artist to adapt to whatever tool they made. So I started making my own. And they were lighter than anything out there, with wicks that were a reasonable distance from the hoop (6-7 inches depending on wick size, not 10 -12 inches!) but the wicks were on permanently, which, in recent years, meant my fire hoop was repeatedly taken away from me when I tried to fly with it. Gah!!! So exasperating.

I have been struggling with these issues for years. Anyone who has followed my posts on Tribe over the years is aware of this. That's why I am writing now. There has finally been an advance in fire hoop technology that is so ground-breaking it has changed my entire fire hoop experience. I think it's going to change fire hooping entirely and forever and I couldn't be happier about it.

Scott, of Hoop Drum, has developed a kick-ass product he calls Quick Wicks. They are detachable wicks that are so light! They are mounted on airplane cable, which is also light, in addition to being flexible enough that it won't break if you drop your hoop on one. The cable also doesn't heat up so you don't burn yourself on the hardware. The wicks are also a reasonable size with a long burn time and, because Julia is a hooper, she has measured their length so that they are far enough beyond the face and hair to be safe but not so far as to vastly increase the circumference of the hoop. These wicks come off easily and quickly (like the name says) for traveling (just tighten with the tool that comes with them) yet the wicks go on in a sturdy way and easily and they stay on without moving ehrn they're in use! I just pop them off, put them in my checked baggage and my airport troubles are over. And I can put them on any hoop I want! I can match fire hoops to outfits if I want!!!

More than that though, more than anything else, this technology has revolutionized my dance. FINALLY I have the freedom of movement I have always craved. I am doing moves I never dreamed I'd be able to do, moves I couldn't do on any other hoop I own -- even the ones I made. Finally, finally, finally, all the qualities I have wanted all this time are available in one hoop and I could not be happier.

So I am here to sing the praises of this new technology. I think it's going to revolutionize hoop crafting altogether and forever. Thank you Scott and Julia. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I encourage anyone seeking to buy a fire hoop to invest in Hoop Drum's Quick Wicks. You will be glad you did. It is a hoop made by hoopers for hoopers and it is going to change fire hooping FOREVER!!! I love mine and I am so so so so so grateful for them.

Hello everyone!
I'm extremely new to hooping, and primarily started for fitness (tone up mummy tummy) but am really enjoying learning about it all and watching videos on hooping!

I hope you won't mind me asking a few questions.

I purchased a 2lb hoop from BodyHoops. It's pretty hard and my hips and ribs are a little bruised. I can hoop in one direction pretty easily with the hoop yet can only keep it up for about 15 mins total at once right now. I do find though, that it feels a little slow. Could that be because of the weight? Or am I not working hard enough to pump it? I was thinking of perhaps getting a lighter hoop? Do you recommend one?
Would a lighter hoop also help with the bruising issue?

Also, I have tried and tried but cannot keep the hoop up in the opposite direction for more than a few seconds! It feels completely different and not sure why (even my husband said I am not doing anything the same way as I do when I hoop my right way) but I cannot get my co-ordination together for it to stay up!
How important is this? I read on here it is...but I just useless at it.

Also is this hoop too heavy to do a lot of things like raising it up the shoulders/chest etc? It just seems heavy and slow.

Sorry for so many questions!
Thanks so much for reading!

The Hooping LifeWith the launch of Hooping.org 4.0 we’re having some contests and giving away prizes, but wait, there’s more! When The Hooping Life and World Hoop Day and Hooping.org join forces, the result is a contest unlike any other. How would you like to bring the hooping popumentary film to your town on World Hoop Day: October 10, 2010 for the first community initiated screening of the film? Here’s what you need to know. While the film can’t be screened without the $500 licensing fee, The Hooping Life has agreed to donate the licensing fee once it is raised and any surplus proceeds brought in from the screening to World Hoop Day to help promote peace and help get hoops to needy kids. Now that means, let’s say, that you need a minimum of 50 people at $10 a head to cover the screening fee, and when you’re coming up with your plan be sure to have that in mind. Put your thinking cap on, drive around town, call a few friends and figure out what your plan would be to make a screening of The Hooping Life happen on World Hoop Day where you live. Be creative. Think outside the box too. Come up with cool ideas. And once you’ve got yours figured out, post it in The Hooping Life community forum here on Hooping.org. And while only one place can win this contest, we want you to know that everything posted to the contest, the resulting list of entries, will be seriously considered when future screenings are mapped out. So get registered on Hooping.org and become a member of The Hooping Life group, and then you can post your contest entries here. We’re really looking forward to seeing what you come up with. You have until Midnight PST on Tuesday, July 20th.

She wants me to do something about my youtube.com channel because I have the URL of youtube.com/pixiehoop and people confuse me with her brand I suppose...

The real issue that I'm having is that my hoop name is Rosebud and my youtube says "Rosebuds' pixie hoop dancing". I have had this channel since December 23, 2008, have uploaded several videos that I would not be able to re upload or save to another account because they were uploaded straight from my webcam AND I have people who actually watch those videos at that url. She has only had her youtube since March 05, 2009 and doesn't have any videos uploaded to her channel at all...

I really don't want to have to go to court over this, (as she kindly insinuated that is what will happen if I don't change my youtube), I don't have the money for that, I'm a full time college student struggling to live in the first place, and I don't want to loose any of my hooping footage, it's pretty important to me. Is there anyone who has had this happen to them as well? Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to deal with this? It's really upsetting to know that this hooper wants to basically take me out because of a name similarity...
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100013426

The closest I've been able to find is a metal coupling like this:
http://www.pexsupply.com/img/categoryImages/hydropex-coupling.gif

But the weight of the metal throws my hoop's balance off, and there's that raised section the middle, so the two ends of the hoop don't completely meet and it's been clicking at higher speeds.

Help! Any leads on where I can track down the right kind of coupling?

Thanks so much! :)

With another friend I am making hoops (normal ones, LED, many variations) that we can then also sell. The spring and summer are perfect for starting this here in Amsterdam and I believe that this is a great time to start doing it and spread the hoop craze to this country!

I also have friends in the club and underground scene who are potentially interested in hiring hula hoopers for stage performances, so I suppose I can act as an agent. Another passion of mine is photography so I can make some promotion shots as well if you like. I work in IT and that will go towards building and setting up a website for all of this.

Let me know if you're interested. We could just start out with a little jam session on some day in the Vondelpark and see how we get along?

I've been having some amazing random encounters with other hoopers lately, which are scarce in this country, so I came to believe that this is my destiny from here on ;-)

The Mother has already purchased all of the flimsy store bought hoops for the party. I told her I can provide the hoops for the class if she needs. She is ordering a hoop from me for her daughter, and will put my business cards in the "goodie bags".

I am unsure what to charge. I will provide hoops, music, a mini demo performance and my time for the class. I was thinking 1 1/2-2 hours??? It's local so I don't need to travel far.

I'm told I sell myself short a lot because I am afraid of charging too much. I was thinking $100?? Is that too much? I will inevitably get some hoops sales out of it.

I finally purchased my tubing and all of the materials besides my tape and now I'm stuck. I even made a hoop and have attempted using it without the tape. LOL it's a lot harder than it looks! I'm not giving up though and hopefully once I have the tape on there that will help me be able to keep it up a little better. Anyways I've noticed on Identi-tape that the colored duct tape is a better deal, so I was wondering if anyone uses this rather than the vinyl or electrical and why or why not? If it's not a good choice what is the difference between the vinyl and the electrical for hoops? I would appreciate all of your input. Thanks in advance.

Spin Matsuri will be a fun adventure filled with movement workshops, dance parties and creative collaborations. As it did in 2009, the weekend will involve about 40 participants and 7 instructors.

We are looking for instructors who can provide a 90 minute workshop on a hoop dance, flow, movement, or related topic to a range of participants: beginners to instructors from all over Japan and the world.

Greetings hoop crafters ~

As some of you may know, USPS has changed its policies regarding the measurements for hoops which dramatically changes the prices for shipping.

For years, our local post office has been totally cool with shipping our hoops for about $10/ea (in US) ---and very reasonable international rates as well. We've been shipping them wrapped in recycled paper, so they still look like hoops (rather than collapsed in a box.) As I understand it, about a year ago, there was a shift in shipping policies/guidelines, but it was a little vague and left open to interpretation. Our local guys continued to interpret to our advantage. <3

A couple of months ago, an official memo went out instructing the Post Offices to measure the hoops differently. This shift in interpretation from a higher up changed the shipping price from $10 to ~$100/hoop! Our local guys have been extremely apologetic and even encouraged me to write the Postmaster General about the issue. In this economy, the management is stressing the need to keep business, yet they've made a decision that has forced us to take our business elsewhere.

For the time being, we're shipping the hoops collapsed, in a box via FedEx. (Thanks Lara from superhooper for the lowdown!) While yes, this works, it is both economically and environmentally wasteful. Also, it is much more expensive internationally. Ironically and most importantly, the hoops take up more space in a box and are less convenient to carry.

Apparently, we've all been 'falling through the cracks', but supposedly this official word has gone to all offices to force them to change their measuring practices and thus *screw* us hoop retailers. If you're still shipping hoops via USPS, congrats. Cross your fingers so that your hoop does not get held for ransom at the destination P.O.

Since I prefer the old school USPS way, fully assembled (I'm generally not a fan of the collapsible hoop flow + boxes are economically & environmentally costly), I'm interested in working to rationalize with them.

I have created a survey for hoop retailers to enter the amounts they spend on shipping, which companies they use, if they've changed carriers recently, etc. I think that the USPS could be swayed if they understood the numbers. What may seem like a random occurrence, is actually a pretty big business, especially when we're all united.

If you ship hoops, please fill out this form. Even if you're happy with FedEx or UPS, it could be helpful for the USPS to know what kind of market they are turning their backs on. I will be sending out a letter with these stats to the Postmaster General in one week (on St. Patty's day). Please send/link this note or form to anyone who you know who ships hoops.

I have never heard of this...ever. Personally I think she simply bumped the thin skin on her shin and "busted" or "split" her shin, like you might "bust" or "split" your lip. The same thing could have happened through any contact. Running into a coffee table etc.
I recently started shipping hoops and I'm wondering if anyone can share a less costly, time consuming, and wasteful way of packaging them. Right now I wrap them in brown paper and packing tape much the same way as I tape the hoop-in a spiral. I use so much brown paper and packing tape and it takes forever. Is this my only option? Thanks so much for listening!
